PRESS: Gazprom can build 1 tln rbl gas chemical plant on Yamal

MOSCOW, Dec 18 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom wants to build a 1 trillion ruble gas chemical facility on the Yamal Peninsula, business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

Four people with knowledge of the plans said that Gazprom can build a polymer producing plant on the Bovanenkovo cluster of deposits with a capacity of about 3 million tonnes of polyethylene and polypropylene per year.

Gazprom has already discussed creation of a consortium of foreign investors and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for the project. Several sources said that Saudi Arabia’s Sabic and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR are among the possible partners.
